Over the weekend, Glee star Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room. His passing has caused a lot of grief among both viewers of the show and his former cast mates. Recently, Jane Lynch spoke out about his death on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
While visiting Leno, Lynch, who plays coach Sue Sylvester on the series, was emotional when talking about the late actor during her appearance. “Cory’s one of the biggest hearts, was a real bright light,” she said to Leno. “He was one of those guys that …he knew he was breathing rarified air. The gift that this wonderful show gave us …He was always aware that it was a gift and he was quite generous,” she said while her voice broke at times. She mentioned that Monteith was a “great guy” and a “bright light” to the Glee Family.
Another cast-mate spoke out about the death of the actor. Dianne Agron, who played love interest to Monteith’s character, Finn, made a statement regarding the passing of her friend. “I have never lost a friend. In this difficult time, I am leaning on all of the wonderful memories we shared with Cory, how many ways he was able to make us smile.” There hasn’t been any word from Montieth’s on-and-off screen girlfriend, Lea Michelle. TMZ has reported that she is with his family as they cremated the actor following the autopsy exam.
The autopsy revealed the cause of death to be an overdose with the mixture of heroin and alcohol. He had a long history of drug abuse and recently went to rehab for his problem.
