Emma Roberts Arrested In “Unfortunate” Event

Emma Roberts has been relatively quiet compared to other young actresses when it comes to trouble with the law. Following similar paths as Amanda Bynes and Miley Cyrus who came from successful teen shows, Emma Roberts had her time in the negative spotlight earlier this week with an arrest in Montreal, Canada.

The former Nickelodeon star, was arrested on Tuesday night, July 16, says one of the reps for the actress. She was arrested and quickly released after police responded to a domestic dispute between Roberts and her boyfriend, Evan Peters. Peters is known for his role on the hit series American Horror Story. Prosecutors later dropped the charges.

“It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding,” tells Emma’s rep to ET. “Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working to move past it.” The Montreal Police Department has yet to release any information on the incident involving Roberts and Peters. The police, however, did confirm that they were called to the couple;s hotel room that resulted in the arrest of the Roberts.

Emma Roberts followed up her Nickelodeon television show with a series of major movies. Following in her aunt, Julia Robert’s, footsteps, she began focusing on a movie career. She recently starred in a breakout role in Scream 4 last year.
