Thought leader and best selling author Stephen Covey died yesterday at the age of 79 due to complications incurred from a bicycle accident last April. Covey’s book “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” sold over 20 million copies and was sited by organizations like Time Magazine and Forbes as one of the most influential management books. His later books “First Things First,” The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness” and “Principle-Centered Leadership” all went on to be bestsellers. Covey founded the Covey Leadership Center in 1997 which according to its website is a “global consulting and training leader in the areas of srategy execution, leadership, customer loyalty, sales performance, school transformation and individual effectiveness.” The company enjoys global success with offices in 44 countries. Covey passes away at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center surrounded by friends and family, he is survived by his wife Sandra, 9 children and 52 grandchildren.
