Variety announced today that hunky action star Tom Hardy has been selected to star in the film adaptation of the popular Tom Clancy video game series ‘Splinter Cell’ being produced by Ubisoft. For now it will be an internal project but Ubisoft is looking to selling the movie to a major studio as production gets underway. It was also announced that Eric Singer has been selected as the screen writer. Jean-Julien Barronet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures released a statement today saying: “Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills. His involvement in Tom Clancy’s ‘Splinter Cell’ movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike.” Hardy is best known for his portrayal of Bane in ‘The Dark Night Rises’ and appeared in the hit movie Inception alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.
