Arrested Development is back for a fourth season on Netflix. The new season is set to have appearances from Liza Minelli, Ben Stiller, Kristin Wig and Seth Rogen. One person who almost made an appearance was Ellen DeGeneres.
“Mitch [Hurwitz] wanted her to be a part of this but it didn’t come to fruition,” said DeGeneres’ real-life wife, Portia de Rossi to Fox411’s Pop Tarts column at last week’s Los Angeles Confidential magazine’s “Real Beauties” issue launch party . Portia de Rossi plays Lindsay Bluth on the series. “But I would want her to play herself.”
Arrested Development is back after several years premiering on Netflix on Sunday. “It felt like a gift,” insisted de Rossi. “Nobody gets to resurrect a character that they put to be seven years ago, and for it to be this anticipated and still have this fan base still dying to see what we come up with now is incredibly exciting.”
Although the show hasn’t been around for almost a decade, fans never stopped showing love for the series. “When I was doing my book tour and it was a serious subject matter,” added de Rossi, speaking about her 2010 memoir entitled “Unbearable Likeness”. “One of the girls showed up to get her book signed wearing the ‘Sl*t’ t-shirt from ‘Arrested Development.’ It was funny because it was so out of context and she was so proud of it. It was funny to people who knew where the joke was from.”
