Planning the Perfect Baby Shower: Rubber Duckie Baby Shower Punch

Spread the love

With so many free and helpful resources available online today, it is easy to plan the perfect baby shower for family and friends. On a budget too? No problem! These DIY baby shower punch and cake pop recipes will help get you started in the right direction.

You can serve brunch or lunch at a baby shower that is close to lunch time, but many hostesses choose to have the shower during the afternoon, when you can just serve cake or cupcakes and punch. If you are planning a baby boy themed baby shower, then consider making blue punch. You can even make the punch look like a little bathtub with rubber ducks floating in it. Here’s how:
Rubber Duckie Baby Shower Punch
1 packet unsweetened blue Kool-Aid
1 2-liter bottle ginger ale
1 64-oz. bottle white grape juice
1 cup sugar
Pineapple sherbet
2 or three rubber ducks (bathtub toys)
Make sure to chill the ginger ale and grape juice ahead of time. Overnight is ideal. Make sure to remove the sherbet from the freezer about 30 minutes ahead of time so that it can soften a bit before you scoop it.
To prepare the punch, combine Kool Aid, sugar, and grape juice in a large punch bowl. Slowly add the ginger ale, if you pour it in too fast it will get too bubbly. Add about 8 scoops of pineapple sherbet to the top of the punch.
Give the rubber ducks a good rinse and place them on top of the punch. It will look like they are floating around in a little duckie bath tub. After the shower, give the mother-to-be the rubber ducks to take home for baby’s bath.
Baby Shower Cake Pops
When planning a baby shower, you can serve a cake, cupcakes, or even cake pops. Cake pops are really popular right now and very easy to make.
Just prepare and bake your favorite cake mix and then crumble it all up in a large bowl until the mixture resembles very fine crumbs. Stir in a can of store bought frosting. The mixture will resemble the consistency of play dough.
Roll the cake batter into small evenly shaped balls and place on waxed paper. Freeze until solid. This part can be done weeks in advance and then finished right before the baby shower.
Remove the cake balls from the freezer and gently push a lollipop stick into each cake ball.
Take a package of candy melts (these come in many colors: blue, pink, red, yellow, green) and melt them in the microwave. For variety, you might choose more than one color. For a baby boy shower, choose blue and dark chocolate. For a girl shower, choose white and pink candy melts.
Melt the candy by placing in a microwaveable safe bowl and heating the microwave for 60 seconds. Stir, and then heat for another 60 seconds. Continue until completely melted.
Carefully dip each cake ball into the melted candy coating and then place in cake pop holder to dry, using a spoon if necessary to help you coat the cake ball with the melted coating. An upside down colander or a piece of Styrofoam also work well to hold cake pops while they are drying. Sprinkle the cake pops with your favorite coordinating sprinkles before they dry.
Baby showers can be expensive if you buy all your treats ready made. If you get good at making cake pops, you can even charge others to make them for them. They are a really hot item, and many people are willing to pay accordingly for them. Have fun, and try these fun baby shower recipes at your next baby shower.
