The MTV Video Music Awards is on its way and the nominations have been announced. Justin Timberlake takes the cake of most nominations with six nods for his latest album The 20/20 Experience. He ties with British hip-hop group Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis.
The video music award show airs on August 25 in the Brooklyn’s Barclay Center to celebrate this years most memorable music videos. Artist like Miley Cyrus, Robin Thicke and Taylor Swift will be in attendance to see if they will take home the signature Moon Man from MTV. Justin Timberlake is up against Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Robin Thicke for the Video of the Year, for his video for “Mirrors”. Drake, A$AP Rocky, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, and 2 Chainz are all up for best Hip-Hop Video. Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” gets three nominations for Best Female Video, Best Editing and Best Pop Video.
MTV adds a new category entitled Best Video With a Social Message. Kelly Clarkson’s hit “People Like Me” is up against Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis’ “Same Love”, “No Guns Allowed” by Snoop Lion, Beyonce’s “I Was Here” and “Candles in the Sun” by Miguel. Other unique categories include Best Cinematography and Best Direction.
