Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the epitome of a bromance, but when rumors started that the two were in relationship, the two actors never denied the fact. Damon recently addressed why he never spoke out against the rumors in an interview with Playboy.
Damon states, “I never denied the rumors because I was offended and didn’t want to offend my friends who were gay.” Damon stars in the Steven Soderbergh directed HBO biopic “Behind the Candelabra” as Scott Thorson, Liberace’s longtime lover. Damon plays alongside Michael Douglas, who takes on the role of Las Vegas entertainer Liberace.
Matt Damon recalls talking with Heath Ledger about filming passionate kissing scenes with his co-star Jake Gyllenhaal in the 2005 “Brokeback Mountain”, which Damon was originally set to star. Ledger told him, “I needed to just go for it. If you can’t do that, you’re not making the movie.” Words Damon used to help him as he portrayed the role of Thorson. He has some pretty passionate scenes with costar Michael Douglas and at one point straddles and kisses him in a chaise lounge chair.
Damon went on to say in his interview that the fim covers the intamacy of their relationship and portrays a marriage “long before there was gay marriage. That’s not an insignificant thing.”
Damon will also star in the film “Promise Land”, which he co-wrote with John Krasinski, out in limited release on December 28.
