Steven Spielberg tied for his personal best today at this year’s Academy Awards nominations ceremony when his film “Lincoln” received Oscar nods for best picture, director, as well as several acting nominations for his cast including Daniel Day Lewis, Sally Field and Tommy Lee Jones.
Spielberg also received 12 Oscar nominations back in 1993 for his film “Schindler’s List” which went on to win Best Picture and Best Director.
All together 9 films were nominated in the best picture category this morning: “Argo,” Ben Affleck’s true story of the rescue of hostages in Iran, Tarantino’s western slave-revenge film “Django Unchained,” the low-budget indie hit “Beasts of the Southern Wild,” the film adaptation of the musical “Les Miserables,” the film adaptation of the book “Life of Pi,” the elderly love story “Amour,” the Osama Bin Laden manhunt flick “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Silver Linings Playbook” starring Bradley Cooper.
The Academy Awards will air on February, 24th from Los Angeles.
