Today was an exciting day for Harry Potter fans, series author J.K. Rowling launched an online book club for her fans young and old alike. The site, which was set up by the books publisher, Scholastic, is a place for teachers and parents to go for resources to set up their own book clubs and get children involved in reading. “Scholastic has been in conversation with educators, librarians and other book lovers about ideas for bringing the Harry Potter book to new readers in exciting and different ways.” said Scholastic president Ellie Berger. Rowling will also be doing a live broadcast on the site at noon EDT on October 11th, her first interaction with readers since 2007, which she described as a “live virtual author visit to classrooms.” The book club site will have not only an overview of the series but information about both Harry Potter and the author herself.
