US officials announced that Mexican-American singer Jenni Rivera died in a plane crash on Sunday, but her family is saying that they are holding out hope that the talented young woman is still alive. According to officials, the jet that Rivera was flying in crashed in Northern Mexico killing everyone aboard, but there has yet to be any report on bodies recovered in the wreckage or a cause of the terrible accident.
Juan Rivera, Jenni’s brother, told reporters today that “In our eyes, we still have faith that our sister will be OK. We thank God for the life that he has given…my sister. For all the triumphs and successes she has had, and we expect that there will be more in the future.”
Rivera, who was born in California to Mexican immigrants, is a huge star in Mexico, having sold over 15 million albums in the last 17 years.
