Veteran rocker Morrissey is a well known Vegetarian and animal rights activist, and he takes his stance on not eat meat extremely seriously. So serious that he canceled his upcoming performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live because the cast of A&E’s Duck Dynasty reality show will also be making an appearance.
Morrissey’s performance was going to help kick-off the U.S. leg of his tour, which was previously postponed, but he released a statement on Monday saying he “cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests.”
The statement also read: “Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if ‘Duck Dynasty’ were removed.”
The Duck Dynasty reality show is about a redneck family that got wealthy by creating one of the most used duck-calls tools. Morrisey went on to say, “As far as my reputation is concerned, I can’t take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers. If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty, then we must step away.”
Morrissey has also been making news as the headlining act and host of the first all-vegetarian concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
