2013 just might be the year of Miley Cyrus. The former Disney princess is spreading her wings with a new sound, record deal, and album for later this year.
The singer just announced that she has signed a deal with RCA Records and has been working with hitmaker Dr. Luke to bring a follow up to the popular “Party In the USA”. We haven’t heard much from Miley since her last album Can’t Be Tamed from 2010.
Her latest album with RCA Records is currently untitled, reports Billboard, but is set to release later this year. Miley has been in the studio with the a variety of artists including Pharrell Williams, Hit-Boy and Da Internz, and Mary J. Blige. “I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler the Creator heard it and said, ‘I’m obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album’. And he killed it! I really didn’t want to make a hip-hop record, and I’m not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki ..That’s not my vibe,” she told Seventeen Magazine.
Rumors of a new album began to surface last June after photos of the singer with Pharrell Williams and Tyler the Creator made it’s way to the web. This marks the first album release for Miley Cyrus without Disney backing her up. “I’ve never gotten to make a record like this because Disney’s always been on my back, saying ‘You’ve got to promote the TV show in two months, so make sure your record’s done ..and when you promote your record, can you promote the show, the movie and the “Hannah Montana” record?’ I was basically carrying two people’s careers and trying to make mine the priority.”
Miley’s new focuses are her music and relationship with fiance, Liam Hemsworth. Don’t expect a big wedding from the pair as they plan on having a small ceremony when the big day comes.
