For years, the public has blamed Bobby Brown for the drug use done by Whitney Houston. In an interview for “Oprah’s Next Chapter”, Whitney’s older brother, Michael, admitted that he was the one who first introduced her to drugs.
On Monday night, Houston’s brother admitted in front of their mother, Cissy, that he was in fact to blame. “I think probably the first time she ever did [cocaine],it was with me,” he said. “You gotta understand at the time ..the 80’s ..it was acceptable,”. Michael and Whitney were extremely close, telling Oprah that he still carries the guilt for introducing her to drugs before she met Bobby Brown. “I’m living, but I’m not alive,” he told Oprah.
In Cissy’s new book, Remembering Whitney, Houston’s mother writes about the shock and confusion she felt when she found out that Whitney and her brother Michael did drugs together. “It’s painful ..I feel responsible for what I let go so far,” she said. Michael’s admission serves to absolve Whitney’s ex-husband, Bobby Brown of the blame, which many believed was behind her fall from grace.
Whitney Houston was found dead last February after a drug binge that included cocaine, Xana, and marijuana. She drowned in a bath tub the night before the Grammy Awards.
