The Rev. Al Sharpton and members of his National Action Network called for a boycott today after action figures based on Quentin Tarantino’s new movie “Django Unchained” appeared on Amazon.

“Selling this doll his highly offensive to our ancestors and the African American community,” NAC president Rev. K.W. Tuloss told the Daily News. “The movie is for adults, but these are action figures that appeal to children. We don’t want other individuals to utilize them for their entertainment, to make a mockery of slavery.”

Those opposed to the action figures were not necciserily opposed to the violent film itself. Activist Najee Ali representing the Project Islamic Hope said that he had gone to see the movie twoce already. “I actuall enjoyed the movie, but we cannot support this type of commercialization,” he said.

This is only the latest controversy sparked by the film which stars Jamie Foxx as a slave turned bounty hunter in search of his wife.
