Anderson Cooper is fighting back after Star Jones made comments that he believes were unfair criticism about his decision to come out as gay in an interview with Andrew Sullivan earlier this year. Cooper was responding to comments that talk show host Star Jones made on the ‘Today Show.’ “I’ve been in daytime television for a long time,” Jones said. “He’s a daytime talk show host and when the ratings slip in the daytime, the hosts tend to tell you lots of things about them…There were times that you generate information for ratings.” Cooper used his talk show “Anderson Live” to respond to the comments made by Jones, pointing out that Jones has done her own self promotion on TV using her spot on “The View” to get free products for her wedding and for her blatant dishonestly about undergoing gastric bypass surgery. He also pointed out that her comments were off base because he did not come out on air and had he been using his homosexuality for ratings he “would have waited to announce it on ‘A Very Special Episode’ that would have been promo’d for weeks.”
