Kathy Bates Diagnosed with Breast Cancer

Kathy Bates revealed via Twitter today that she was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 months ago and has undergone a double mastectomy. “Hey All,” she said, “sorry for the long silence. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 months ago & am recovering from a double mastectomy…I don’t miss my breasts as much as I miss Harry’s Law. 😉 Thanks for all the sweet tweets. Y’all kept me going.” This is the second run in with cancer for Kathy Bates who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in 2003. According to a statement made by Bates to People  she will not require chemo or radiation to help fight the breast cancer saying that her “doctors have assured me I’m going to be around for a long time.” Bates has been keeping a low profile since her NBC drama ‘Harry’s Law’ was cancelled  last May. The actress is up for an Emmy in September for her role on that show as well as for a guest appearance on the comedy ‘Two and a Half Men’.
