VH1 Divas pays tribute to the late Whitney Houston

Some of the biggest names in pop took to the stage at VH1 Divas last night to pay tribute to perhaps the greatest diva of them all, Whitney Houston, Brandy kicked off the show in Los Angeles, telling the audience about her first time meeting Houston. “The first concert I ever went to was a Whitney Houston show and I was determined to get close to her. I talked my way through security until I finally made it backstage, but by then she was already gone. Years later, I finally got to meet her and even shared the VH1 Divas stage with her.” The two later became friends and even starred in a television version of Cinderella together.
Last night’s show focused on Whitney Houston’s biggest dance hits with Jordin Sparks performing “I’m Every Woman” and Melanie Fiona covering “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.” Finishing up the evening was soul singer Ledisi who belted out “How Will I Know.”
