U2’s Bono is known the world over for his music and the countless hours he spends doing charity to benefit the poor, but now he has a new honor to add to his resume.
Bono is the latest celebrity to have an animal named after him after a new group of spiders found in a National Park were named after him, according to the Riverside Press-Enterprise. Three dozen new species of trapdoor spiders have been found and identified, with three of them coming from the Joshua Tree National Park, which is why they were named after Bono.
I’ll explain.
U2’s 1987 album was named The Joshua Tree, and even had pictures of the group at the park. So in honor of the world renowned musician, scientists decided to name the new species of spider Bonoi. That’s really cool and creepy at the same time, but i’m sure Bono doesn’t mind.
