We’re halfway through 2025 and the movie pipeline is still pumping pure heat. From superhero revivals to auteur brainmelts, the second half of the year is stacked. So if you’re wondering what movies are actually worth crawling out of your depression pit for — here’s the only list of the most anticipated movies of 2025
June
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (June 6)
Tom Cruise is doing his own stunts until the government forces him to stop. This is the end of the Ethan Hunt saga. Expect: helicopters, betrayal, and Cruise sprinting like a maniac.
M3GAN 2.0 (June 27)
She’s back and still slaying. Literally. Our favorite AI doll returns with even slicker dance moves and murder upgrades. PG-13 horror, but somehow still scarier than your dating life.
July
Jurassic World: Rebirth (July 2)
Yes, they made another one. But now it’s starring Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali — so at least the acting’s gonna be better than the CGI dinosaurs.
Superman (July 11)
James Gunn’s DCU reset starts here. David Corenswet puts on the cape. Will this fix DC? No idea. But the trailer alone gave fanboys chills. Expect memes, discourse, and Letterboxd wars.
Fantastic Four (July 25)
Marvel’s allegedly “fixing everything” with this one. First family finally joins the MCU, and no, we don’t want another origin story. Just make it weird and cosmic.
August
Weapons (August 8)
From the director of Barbarian and described as Magnolia meets horror? No one knows what this is yet — but it’s the movie Twitter nerds are foaming over. Vibes: existential dread and blood.
Nobody 2 (August 15)
Bob Odenkirk is back to crush skulls and suburban stereotypes. Think John Wick if it had dad energy and trauma.
September
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (September 12)
British people being dramatic about tea and inheritance. One last time. Your mom’s favorite movie of the year.
Him (September 19)
Jordan Peele is producing this and it’s giving “don’t trust the trailer.” We know nothing. We want everything. Just inject it into our veins already.
October
The Black Phone 2 (October 17)
Did we need a sequel? No. Are we still gonna watch it at 1 AM and regret it instantly? Absolutely.
Bugonia (October 24)
Yorgos Lanthimos (The Favourite, Poor Things) directing Emma Stone in a remake of a Korean sci-fi about capitalist aliens. Yes. All the yes. Let it cook.
November & December:
Wicked: For Good (November 21)
Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in full Broadway mode. If you don’t hear “Defying Gravity” on TikTok every day after this drops, we’ll eat a broom.
Avatar: Fire and Ash (December 19)
James Cameron said “Ash People.” You already know the VFX will ruin your OLED TV. The plot? Doesn’t matter. You’re watching it. We’re all watching it.
