It seemed like everyone had something to say about the Rick Ross drive by incident. Some took to YouTube to share their opinions, while others, like 50 Cent, took to Twitter. The most surprising of them all is that of rap legend Uncle Luke who took to the Miami New Times to send a message to Rick Ross.

The Southern rap pioneer, Uncle Luke, has been in the rap game for a minute. While the former Two Live Crew member has been relatively quiet in the past few years, he finally spoke out about Rick Ross’s recent drive by in a letter. “Trust me, you don’t want to go out like Biggie Smalls and Tupac. It’s time you squash your beefs,” he wrote.”You have the Gangster Disciplines breathing down your neck because you’ve named dropped Larry Hoover, the gang’s founder, in your music. Unlike the record and book publishing industries, the bad dudes don’t understand the concept of public domain.”

Reportedly, Rick Ross and his girlfriend were driving home early morning of January 28 when they heard multiple gun shots and swerved off the road and crashed into an apartment complex. There were no serious injuries, but it is suspected the the gang Gangster Disciples are responsible. Ross has cancelled a number of his MMG concert shows due to death threats by the gang.

“They see you getting rich forever by rapping about their leader, and they don’t like it. That’s why they’re on YouTube talking about how you need to go see them and cut a check.” While Uncle Luke’s letter came from a place of concern, he took to the open letter to share his feelings towards rap music. “All this gangster bullsh– is jeopardizing your career,” he wrote to Ross. “Hip hop has a rich history of college guys who never committed a crime rapping about moving kilos of cocaine and taking out snitches. Every gangster rapper takes on the role of a real hood legend to build up street cred. But I don’t what you to all into the trap of believing you are really a gangster.”

He might not have a chopper in the car, but Rick Ross is now secured with 24 hour armed personal security. After being subject to a drive by shooting early Monday morning, the rap mogul has increased his security measures.

After celebrating his birthday at the LIV Nightclub in Miami, Ross left the venue early Monday morning. The suspects pulled up beside Ross’ Rolls-Royce and opened fire around 5 AM in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Ross, who was driving, lost control of the vehicle during the incident and ran into an apartment building. There have been no arrests or suspects identified by the police. “We are currently looking for members of the public to come forward with information,” said Detective Deanna Garcia of the Fort Lauderdale Police department. “The victim cooperated with the police on scene and was released. No one was injured or taken to the hospital.”

The rapper had been receiving death threats and was being targeted by a street gang called Gangsta Disciples for weeks. The threats caused him to cancel a few shows on his tour last year. Rick Ross was already using a armed body guards to accompany him at major events such as concerts and public appearances. He now has hired 24 hour surveillance to keep himself protected.
