Ariel Winter’s mother continues to deny that she ever abused her daughter and now she is suing a man who called her “an abusive monster.”
Chrisoula Workman lost custody of her daughter back in October after Winter’s big sis Shanelle Gray accused her of being both physically and emotionally abusive and now Workman is suing an acquaintance of Shanelle’s for defamation of character over his abusive monster comment.
The comment appeared in an article last month, where Matthew Borlenghi is quoted as saying: “The mother is grasping and clawing to find a way not to lose her money-maker, and hide the fact that she is an abusive monster. Having spent time with he… these accusations are disgusting, just as he is.”
Workman continues to maintain her innocence insisting that Gray wants to care of Winter in order to take advantage of her Hollywood contacts and that Winter is just going through a rebellious phase and is angry at her mother for breaking up her relationship with her 19 year-old boyfriend.

The drama continues for young ‘Modern Family’ actress Ariel Winter, who was removed from her home last week and played under her older sister’s guardianship amid allegations of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother. A source, who worked on the set with Winter’s for over a year, has come forward telling TMZ that Winter’s mother was such a nightmare on the ‘Modern Family’ set that producers wanted her permanently banned. According to the source Winter’s mother, Chrystal Workman, was hated by the crew for her treatment of her 14 year-old daughter. She allegedly would keep a constant eye on Ariel and berate her for her appearance. She also refused to allow her daughter anything to eat other than vegetables and egg whites. It got so bad that may members of the crew would sneak Winters food when they could get it passed her hawk-eyed mother. Money was also an issue for Workman, who constantly complained that Ariel needed to earn more to pay for their home, her agents, publicists and her manager.

Her TV family may seem perfect but the same cannot be said for young Ariel Winter who plays Alex on the hit television show ‘Modern Family.’ Ariel has been removed from her home and placed under her older sister’s guardianship while authorities investigate claims of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother Chrisoula Workman.

Ariel’s sister, Shanelle Gray has filed a petition with the court for guardianship claiming that Workman has pushed, shoved and slapped Ariel, has subjected her to “vile name calling” and personal insults about her weight and appearance. Gray also claims that Workman has attempted to sexualize a minor and has been known to deprive the young actress of food for extended periods of time.

Gray has had custody of Ariel since October, 3^rd and is petitioning to be appointed a permanent guardian for her sister and her $500,000 estate. Workman continues to deny the abuse allegations and told E! News, “I want to say the horrible, untrue accusations are false and ridiculous. I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused…I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused.”

Workman will have a battle on her hands however if she hopes to get Ariel returned to her custody as this isn’t the first time the girl has been removed from her home. According to TMZ Ariel was placed into foster care but the Department of Children and Family Services when she was young.

While Winter is best known for her role on Modern Family, the actress has been hard at work in the entertainment industry since she was only 6 years old. Winter’s got her first big break with a cool whip commercial and quickly worked her way up to television and film roles. She most notably starred alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer in the 2005 comedy ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.”
