“Modern Family” star Ariel Winter is about to take on a new role as high school student. The teenage actress is ecstatic to attend high school like a normal kid.

Winter plays the brainy and percocious teenager Alex Dunphy on the Emmy-winning ABC comedy.

Winter is now enrolled in a private school in the Los Angeles area and will start attending classes later this month. The actress has always been privately tutored. Producers are excited for her new transition and will work around her class schedules for filming.

Winter has been living with her sister, Shanelle Gray, after she received temporary guardianship after allegations that her mother, Chrystal Workman,  was emotionally abusing the young girl. Winter is doing well under her sister’s guardianship where the rules are strict. Producers have noticed a positive change in Winter’s mood.

Ariel’s attorney and father, Glenn Workman,  now have control over her finances which include $75,000 per episode, as per a settlement.  Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Levanas scheduled a hearing for March 29 in which he could hand permanent guardianship over to Gray.

“Modern Family” portrays the lives of three zany families and has won three consecutive Emmy awards as American television’s best comedy series.

After reviewing  the abuse allegations against ‘Modern Family’ star Ariel Winter’s mother a judge has decided that the 14 year-old actress should remain in her sister’s custody for at least the next several weeks.

An investigation into the allegations by child protective investigators found evidence of emotional abuse and the agency planned to step in and take action if the child was returned to her mother. 6 weeks ago Winters mother, Chrisoula Workman, temporarily lost custody after allegations arose that she was both physically and emotionally abusive to her daughter and Winter’s has been staying with her sister ever since.

Winter’s father Glenn Workman is getting in on the action now too, pressing the courts to return Ariel to her mother or allow him to raise her telling the court: “I want to provide for her a calm loving home environment that is a retreat from the glitz and glamour of Hollywood; a place where she can think and relax without any distractions. This whole situation has turned into a circus and places Ariel in a position she should not have to be in.”

The drama continues for young ‘Modern Family’ actress Ariel Winter, who was removed from her home last week and played under her older sister’s guardianship amid allegations of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother. A source, who worked on the set with Winter’s for over a year, has come forward telling TMZ that Winter’s mother was such a nightmare on the ‘Modern Family’ set that producers wanted her permanently banned. According to the source Winter’s mother, Chrystal Workman, was hated by the crew for her treatment of her 14 year-old daughter. She allegedly would keep a constant eye on Ariel and berate her for her appearance. She also refused to allow her daughter anything to eat other than vegetables and egg whites. It got so bad that may members of the crew would sneak Winters food when they could get it passed her hawk-eyed mother. Money was also an issue for Workman, who constantly complained that Ariel needed to earn more to pay for their home, her agents, publicists and her manager.

Her TV family may seem perfect but the same cannot be said for young Ariel Winter who plays Alex on the hit television show ‘Modern Family.’ Ariel has been removed from her home and placed under her older sister’s guardianship while authorities investigate claims of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her mother Chrisoula Workman.

Ariel’s sister, Shanelle Gray has filed a petition with the court for guardianship claiming that Workman has pushed, shoved and slapped Ariel, has subjected her to “vile name calling” and personal insults about her weight and appearance. Gray also claims that Workman has attempted to sexualize a minor and has been known to deprive the young actress of food for extended periods of time.

Gray has had custody of Ariel since October, 3^rd and is petitioning to be appointed a permanent guardian for her sister and her $500,000 estate. Workman continues to deny the abuse allegations and told E! News, “I want to say the horrible, untrue accusations are false and ridiculous. I have my doctor’s letter that my daughter’s never been abused…I have stylists’ letters that she’s never been abused.”

Workman will have a battle on her hands however if she hopes to get Ariel returned to her custody as this isn’t the first time the girl has been removed from her home. According to TMZ Ariel was placed into foster care but the Department of Children and Family Services when she was young.

While Winter is best known for her role on Modern Family, the actress has been hard at work in the entertainment industry since she was only 6 years old. Winter’s got her first big break with a cool whip commercial and quickly worked her way up to television and film roles. She most notably starred alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer in the 2005 comedy ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.”
