Hip hop album releases of 2024 have been great so far, but we’ve got 6 more months to look forward to!

This year has been amazing not just for hip hop but for music in general. A lot of big names have dropped their projects, and the hip hop world was set ablaze by the Kendrick, J. Cole, and Drake beef. It’s been a good year for music fans, but it ain’t over yet.

It seems like 2024 has been blessed by the music gods, as it just keeps on giving. Here are the five most anticipated album releases of 2024!

5: A$AP Rocky

A$AP Rocky is gearing up to release his brand new album, which is probably already done by now. In a social media video a few weeks ago, Rocky was seen holding the vinyl for the album, which means it’s likely done and set to release. And yes, we do have a release date: August 30th! Now we just hope Rocky sticks to this date.

4: Drake

Yes, Drake. And I know he just dropped a very lengthy album recently, but we’ve gotten a new Drake record almost every year for the past few years, so what’s different about 2024? Drake might release something this fall. He really needs to take control of the discourse surrounding him, as Kendrick has done some serious damage to his image during their beef.

3: Ice Spice

Ice Spice blew up and is now one of the biggest female rappers in the game. She currently seems like she’s leading the charge. Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and Megan Thee Stallion look uninteresting at the moment, which gives Ice Spice the opportunity to go even bigger with a full-length album!

2: J. Cole

A J. Cole album seems unlikely this year, but not completely out of the picture. J. Cole just dropped a project, and he was also involved in the Drake and Kendrick beef. Plus, he keeps mentioning his next album named “The Fall Off,” so who knows, this fall, J. Cole might drop something.

1: Playboi Carti

Carti has been teasing new music every new year, and this time around, it felt like he would drop something. Apart from a few singles, which he didn’t even bother putting on Spotify, we have not gotten any updates about a Carti album. But it feels like he might be onto something; he has switched up his style and cadence significantly, so maybe he’s cooking up something new!

Chris Brown has showing  interest in hip-hop over the past few years, the singer revealed in a recent interview that he doesn’t know if he’s ready to record an entire hip-hop album.

“For me, I think I would have to progress more as an emcee first,” he said in an interview with Power 98. “It’s just me having fun and showcasing who I am. So an album, I would really have to be taken a hundred percent serious as a rapper. I like Rap. I love it. Music is my passion. Even on my album now, there’s a couple songs that I rap on. But as far as a whole album, I don’t know if the world is ready for Chris Brown, the rapper.”

“Music is for everyone,” he added. “When you put genres on music, you segregate it… I want to always be able to do any kind of music I want. When I get older I might want to do a Country album. Next year, I might want to do an all Hip Hop album or Alternative album. Just making sure that anything that goes down, showing my audience or showing people that have a creative mind that you can do anything you want, it’s just about believing and loving what you’re doing in a positive way. ”
