Steve-O credits dogs for helping him achieve sobriety

It was a long road to recovery for former “Jackass” star Steve-O but the television star says he had a little help from man’s best friend. Steve-O went straight edge back in 2008 after years of alcohol and drug addiction and shortly after adopted to rescue dogs, Walter and Bennie, and now he says he doesn’t know what he did all those years without them.

“You know, the way I feel about it, and it might sound a little weird as far as comparison’s go, but getting a dog reminds me of getting a cell phone because there’s that overwhelming feeling when I first got a cell phone ‘How did I ever live without this, and what would I ever do if I lost it?’ It’s very much the same way with my dogs. I just can’t think back to before I had my dogs and my life must have been just so empty.”
