Sunday night’s episode of The Simpsons added to the jokes of Karl Rove’s now infamous stand-off with his own people during Fox News’ election night coverage. The show’s patented title sequence blackboard gag showed Bart repeatedly writing “I Will Not Concede The Election Till Karl Rove Gives Me Permission.” This is not surprising, as The Simpsons has several instances of poking fun at their home network’s news channel.
During the Fox News’ Election coverage on Tuesday night, political consultant and analyst Karl Rove has an on air meltdown after the popular news broadcasting network announced President Obama’s victory in Ohio. Even after the reports has confirmd that Mitt Romney had conceded, Rove continued to deny the numbers and the Fox News clip quickly became on overnight viral sensation.
As well as being made fun of on The Simpsons, Rove received ridicule by his liberal peers and became the butt of several late night comedy jokes.
This is not the first time that The Simpsons has made fun of it’s home network of Fox specifically the news program. During it’s 25th anniversary show, The Simpsons thanked everyone at Fox except for Fox News for sticking with them for 25 years. Over the years, the cartoon sitcom has given Fox News a few new slogans such as “Not Racist, but #1 With Racists” and “Unsuitable For Viewers Under 75” that appeared on the show.
