Simon Cowell is known for his harsh comments and critiques on singing competitions such as American Idol and The X Factor. His reputation seems to follow him wherever he goes. On Sunday, Cowell visited Britain’s Got Talent and was welcomed with a few eggs.

During Richard and Adam Johnson’s operatic performance of “Impossible Dream”, a viola player named Natalie Holt jumped from her seat and pelted eggs at the former Idol judge. According to Entertainment Weekly, Holt was on stage with the back-up orchestra when she sprang from her seat and brushed past the two singers. It turns out that Holt was a contestant of the show last year.

The eggs landed on Cowell’s jacket, which had to be replaced. “I tweeted yesterday that I don’t like eggs,” said Cowell after the incident. “Now I really don’t like them.”

After the show, Holt released a statement: “I’d like to apologize to Richard and Adam for overshadowing their performance. I’ve never done anything like this before and in hindsight I have realized that it was a silly thing to do.”

Richard and Adam came in third in the competition. the ultimate winner of Britain’s Got Talent was a Hungarian group called Attraction.
