Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens in Spring Breakers Trailer

The  Harmony Korine “Spring Breakers” has released it’s first full-length trailer. The film starring Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Heather Morris, and Ashley Binson is one of the most talked about and anticipated of the year.

In the movie, the leading ladies play bored college girls who plot a way to raise funds for their spring break. The incident soon spirals as the girls find themselves in jail on drug charges. The almost unrecognizable, James Franco, plays drug dealer/rapper Alien who comes to the girls’ rescue, leading them deeper down a dark road of drugs, sex, and violence. Gucci Mane  makes an appearance in the movie playing Alien’s rival.

“Evolution. As an actor, you’ve got to grow. If you’re not growing, you’re dying, in a sense,” said Selena Gomez on her decision to star in the raunchy movie. “So it was time to shed a new skin and step into something different, a different person’s shoes, a different world.” The former Disney star, plays in her most controversial role yet as Candy in the  dark film.

Critics have given the movie polar reviews. Some say the film will not meet expectations with it’s mixed cast, while others exclaim that it could be the best movie of the year.

Spring Breakers is due for wide release on March 29.
