Florida native Christopher Chaney was sentenced to 10 years in prison yesterday for allegedly hacking into the phones and email accounts of over 50 people in the entertainment industry. Chaney was the man responsible for the Scarlett Johansson nude photo scandal last year when pictures intended for her husband Ryan Reynolds were leaked to the public. Chaney also hacked his way into email accounts belonging to Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera, Miley Cyrus, Jessica Alba and Selena Gomez.
The FBI caught up to Chaney about a month after the nude photos hit the web and said that he was able to access the accounts by mining enough information about the celebrities to guess their passwords. Johansson talked to CNN about the impact of the hacking saying: “Just because you’re an actor or make films or whatever doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to your own personal privacy. If that is sieged in some way, it feels unjust. It feels wrong.”
