New York rapper Fat Joe pleaded guilty to tax evasion, owing millions of dollars in back taxes from 2007 to 2008. While we haven’t heard much from the “lean wit it” artist in recent years, he’s still raking in the dough for mega tracks such as “What’s Luv” and “Make it Rain.”
Fat Joe, real name Joseph Cartagena, appeared in federal court in New Jersey on to enter his plea after being feed on a $250,000 bail.The rapper entered a pleas to two counts covering years 2007 and 2008. Sentencing is scheduled for April and the rapper could get up to two years in prison.
Cartagena’s lawyer Jeffrey Lichtman said his client “had already taken steps to resolve this situation stating the rapper hopes to have the taxes paid back before his court appearance for April 3rd. When U.S. Magistrate Cathy Waldor asked the artist if he understood the charges he faced, he replied,”I super understand it.”
