“Little House On The Prairie” actress Melissa Gilbert has filed for divorce after 16 years of marriage to fellow actor Bruce Boxleitner. The former star cited irreconcilable differences as the cause of the divorce, which was reportedly filed Monday in Los Angeles.
The filing states the couple have been separated since January, shortly after their 16th wedding anniversary.
Besides acting, Gilbert has also served two terms as president of the Screen Actor’s Guild, and Boxleitner has appeared in numerous movies and television series, including “Babylon 5” and both “Tron” films.
The former couple have a 15-year-old son together.
Melissa, who is known best for her role as Laura Ingalls on “Little House,” is seeking joint custody of their son and no spousal support from Boxleitner.
