“Fifty Shades of Grey” just nabbed a director and now the film is set to release on August 1, 2014.

The movie’s release date was announced on the film’s official Facebook page with a photo of main character Christian Grey’s helicopter known as the Charlie Tango. The photo came with the tagline “you are cleared for landing,” followed by the August 1 announcement.

Sam Taylor-Johnson will act as the film’s director, who aims to keep the essence of the E. L James novel. The film will follow the sexual relationship between billionaire tycoon Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. “I am excited to be charged with the evolution of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ from page to screen,” said Taylor-Johnson in a statement. “For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honor the power of Erika’s book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin too.”

“Terra Nova” writer Kelly Marcel and producers Micheal De Luca and Dana Brunetti join Taylor-Johnson on the film. There has yet to be official casting for the lead roles, but it is moving in the right direction. There has been countless rumors of high profile names to play Christian and Anastasia including Vampire Diaries star Iam Somerholder and Pretty Little Liars Lucy Hale.
