Just when Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash thought he could put his sexual allegations nightmare behind him, his accuser Sheldon Stephens has said that he wants to renege on his recant and give back the settlement money he received.
Stephens now claims that he was pressured into withdrawing his accusation that he engaged in a sexual relationship with Clash when he was a 16 year-old minor and would now like to maintain his original story and return the money.
Last week, Stephens, 23, accepted $125,000 in settlement for issuing a statement that concluded that he and Clash were in an “adult consensual relationship.” Clash has maintained since the beginning that he and Stephens were involved but it was after the wannabe actor/model turned 18 and has taken a leave of absence from Sesame Street and his beloved Elmo character to try and deal with the career damaging scandal.
According to TMZ, Stephens is currently working with his lawyers to try and return the money.
