Fans have to wait just a week longer to cop Drake’s new album Nothing Was the Same, but he’s giving them something to make up for it. The rapper premiered the official album artwork via Instagram featuring images of both a younger and older Drake.
In the images for the album, Drake is shown in an animated photo as a baby with a high afro and a pick. Alongside, he also shared a more mature photo of a grown up Aubrey Graham. Placed next to each other, the images find him staring at himself. Genius, much? Drake mentioned to Rolling Stone Magazine that the album is symbolizing his growth as an artist, which can explain the artwork.
The graphics are credited to painter and illustrator Kadir Nelson how has also worked with Michael Jackson, Sports Illustrated and even the U.S. Postal Service. I know Tumblr is going crazy over the images. Baby Drake received over 223,000 likes on Instagram, while the older version got about 215,000.
Nothing Was The Same is set to release on September 24. An official track list has yet to be announced, but collaborations include Jay Z and Lil Wayne. Drake will also get a hand at production from long time collaborator and producer “40”. The rapper is performing “Started From the Bottom” for the first time on television at the MTV Video Music Awards airing this Sunday. That should hold fans over until the album drops …for now.
