Comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien has been tapped to host the 2013 White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on April 27th. The news was first reported by POLITICO and confirmed by WHCA.
This will be the second time O’Brien has been tapped to host the dinner, which has grown famous for bringing together prominent members of the press, politicians, actors, and many other high-profile guests in Washington, D.C. for a night of speeches and jokes about the media and politics.
The first time O’Brien headlined the event was in 1995, only two years after he made his comedic debut hosting NBC’s “Late Night.” He currently hosts “Conan” on TBS, and heads up Team Coco, a comedy website that centers around his talk show.
O’Brien has served as host of Christmas in Washington, a charity event at which President Obama and his family attend and speak, for the last two years.
