New York City is back to it’s regularly schedule program after Hurricane Sandy. After a two-day hiatus, Stephen Colbert returned to his Comedy Central show “The Stephen Colbert Report” Wednesday night to discuss the storm’s effect on the 2012 election.

He began his show by appreciating the relief efforts and encouraging everyone to donate to the Red Cross. He also tood time to celebrate the efforts of the hurricane heroes like the nureses at NYU Langone Meical Center who rescued hundreds of patients when the hospital’s generatoer failed.

His funniest segment included the superstorm Sandy mixing things up one week before election day. He started by going after candidate Romney for suspending his campaign, then holding a storm relief event in Ohio that coincidentally happened to be the same place he was going to have his campaign rally. “It’s not just the hurricane that’s hurting Romney. He has to deal with another threat that can be seen from space, Chris Christie,” Colbert joked.

Hurricane Sandy has created much political debate, swaying the election in favor of President Obama for his efforts in aiding those affected by the Hurricane. While Candidate Romney has made efforts as well, Cobert stated that the “switch” from campaign rally to relief rally was not pulled off as well as he thought. It’s was an obvious tactic to gain support in wake of the storm.
