The third season of Boardwalk Empire comes to a close, but not without creator, Terence Winter, giving away some juicy details on Sunday’s full-gangster-style shoot-em-up closer. He reveals which characters survived the epic blood bath and what to expect in the upcoming fourth season.

Terence talks with Entertainment Weekly about the finale episode. When asked what he hoped the finale would accomplish, Winter stated “It brought us full circle. The full rehabilitation of Nucky’s rehabilitation with his brother,” he said. “It brought a conclusion, of sorts, to the Nucky and Margeret’s relationship,” he added.

In the finale, bad guy Gyp Rosetti played by Bobby Cannavale, dies. While Winter wanted to keep the character, it made sense to have the “monster” die in the end. When asked about Gillian Darmondy, who was last seen following a heroin overdose, the creator stated she was alive.

The next season will be set in 1924, a year after the blood bath with the rise of Capone. The show will aim to portray the Capone era while mixing it’s own fictional story-line Winter was more hush on the secrets on the newest season, but ensured it’ll be something worth the watch!

Last night was the season finale of HBO’s Boardwalk Empire and it was a doozy. Last episode we saw Gyp Rosetti completely over run Atlantic City and attack Nucky Thompson at his home base, forcing him to seek refuge with Chalky White and his people. Rosetti took over the Artemis Club and made it his headquarters in Atlantic City, which didn’t sit well with Gillian and the other girls living there.

Rosetti’s guys treated the club like their personal brothel, and used and abused the girls as they pleased. Elsewhere Gyp Rosetti paid a visit to Chalky’s base and offered him $25,000 dollars to anyone who would turn in Nucky, but they all stayed loyal and didn’t turn him in. At the end of the episode Nucky’s brother Eli comes in from Chicago with Reinforcements from Al Capone and his people.

“Margate Sands” Recap: Calling this episode a bloodbath would be a gross understatement. “Margate Sands” opens with four men standing next to each other with their hands up and a few seconds later they all get gunned down in a hail of bullets. Atlantic City’s mayor is being hounded by reporters by the recent uptick in violence, but he assures them that everything is still firmly in his control.

More and more gangsters keep getting killed and the reporters keep getting pushy, but he once again reassures them that the violence is between gangsters and regular folks have nothing to worry about. The reporters continually ask about Nucky Thompson and if he’s even alive. The mayor tells the reporters, Nucky does not run Atlantic City , he does. The reporters laugh uncontrollably at the mayor after that statement.

The scene transitions to Nucky talking to Mickey Doyle who’s sitting inside Melon’s distillery waiting for Nucky to come and see what he acquired. Mickey tells Nucky that once they get the operation up and running, he will become the biggest bootlegger in Atlantic City. But the conversation is cut short when Nucky sees Chalky and Al Capone’s men fighting each other outside, forcing him to intervene and break it up.

Al Capone and his men aren’t happy with working alongside Chalky and his team because they’re black, and threatens to pull his troops and go back up to Chicago. Nucky looks Capone’s square in the eyes and asks him “What’s a handshake with you worth anyway?” Back at the Artemis club Joe Masserai is having a meeting with Gyp and asks him how many men has he made available to him. Gyp tells Masserai that he gave him 43 men exactly, but he’s already lost 12 men to the war with Nucky.

This, along with the fact that Arnold Rothstein and Nucky are still alive, infuriates Masserai. Gyp reassures Joe that everything is going exactly as planned, telling him that he has Nucky’s hotel, he has the casino and he has Nucky’s warehouse. Masserai still doesn’t seem pleased and reminds Gyp of the promise that he made to him. Joe notices that a clock in the room has the wrong time, and he fixes it before slapping Gyp on the cheek lightly and telling him “Now you know what time it is.”

Gillian walks up to Tommy’s room with his lunch and asks the guards to allow her to go in and see him. They oblige. Tommy is sitting in a tepee erected in the middle of his room refusing to talk or even let Gillian anywhere near him. No matter how she tries he won’t give him. She eventually gives up trying and walks out of the room. Back at the lumberyard Eli is trying to fix a car and Nucky comes over to give him a hand.

They reminisce about the car Nucky sold Eli when he was younger and how it broke down and had to undergo extensive repairs. Nucky then asks his brother is his wife and kids are somewhere safe, and he assures him that they are. Eli asks his brother the same thing about his family, and Nucky deflects the question, instead telling Eli that they should have quit while they were still ahead. Eli tells Nucky they can talk about it after they win the war against Rosetti. Nucky confides in Eli that he thinks their run in Atlantic City is over, but Eli disagrees. He tells Nucky that he’s very good at playing this game, and he will surely work out an angle.

Back at the distillery Mickey places a call to Arnold Rothstein and tells him he’s all alone out at sea. Arnold isn’t amused and tells Mickey to get straight to the point. Mickey then tells Arnold about the distillery in Philly and how big it is, and how he believes that Nucky will give it up in exchange for help against Rosetti. The scene then changes to Lucky sitting inside an interrogation room with the two officers that arrested him, and they’re questioning him about the drugs and where he got them. Lucky gives them a few wisecrack answers and they remind Lucky that they could easily make him disappear if they needed too. Lucky agrees to play ball and tell them where they can get 50 pounds of heroin.

Back at the Artemis club Gillian walks into Rosetti’s office where he’s filing his nails. Gillian engages Gyp in casual conversation and asks him if he misses his daughters at all, and he admits that he does. Gillian then asks Gyp for permission to leave the club with Tommy, but he tells her that he doesn’t want her to go anywhere. Gyp starts calling Gillian “Red” and tells her that once the war is over, they’re going to show Atlantic City how things are supposed to be run. Gyp wants Gillian to be his queen and put her on a pedestal.

Gillian ask where he is, and he says, “Way down below, like a little bug crawling around on your toe” She says, “I could crush you!” But this is exactly what Gyp wants to hear and it turns him on. Back at the lumberyard Arnold Rothstein calls Nucky and offers to help him with Rosseti in exchange for 99% ownership in the distillery. If Nucky agrees to the deal, Rothstein promises to convince Masserai to pull his support from Gyp. Nucky agrees, and after hanging up he turns to Eli and says, “Big Bait, Catches Big Rats!”

We finally get to see Margaret and she’s sitting in the home of a doctor who performs abortions. Margaret looks extremely nervous and asks the doctor’s wife what she should do, but the wife tells her that she never tells anyone what to do and that she should take her time making a decision this important. Margaret nervously asks if she should keep her dress on, and the woman tells her that she will go grab a gown. Looks like she’s going to abort Owen’s baby.

The scene changes to Lucky talking to Meyer, telling him that he worked out a deal with the cops and he won’t do any time. He tells Meyer that he will cover the loss they just took out of his own pocket, guaranteeing it. Meyer is visibly upset and listens quietly while Lucky talks before, before finally yelling “50 lbs, $100,000 Fuckin dollars!” Lucky and Meyer walk into their meeting with Masserai and they’re shocked to see the 50 pounds of heroin they just lost sitting on the table. Rothstein walks in shortly after and lucky realizes that he was setup by him and starts going mad, shouting threats and insults at him. The cops who arrested Lucky also walk in and tell him that if he doesn’t like the way he was treated, he can file a complaint with the station.

Meyer manages to calm his partner down by telling him to shut up or they will both be killed. Rothstein tells Masserai that he thought keeping Lucky close to him would civilize him, but there is only so much you can do. Rothstein then invites Masserai to become his partner in the heroin business, under a condition that we will find out soon enough. Al Capone and his men come back to the lumber yard and see Dunn peeing near their cars, and this makes them extremely angry. Dunn makes a move like he’s going to attack Capone, but he puts his gun in his face. Chalky calls him a coward, in so many words, for always reaching for his gun.

They put down the weapons and start to fight briefly before Nucky runs out again and tell them to break it up because he just got Masserai to pull his support by paying for it. Nucky knows this but Gyp doesn’t just yet, and he wants to plan how they’re going to kill him. The rest of the episode from this point on is absolutely nuts so I won’t spoil it for you, trust me you’ll wanna see it for your self. Check it out and tell us know what you thought about this season finale in the comments below.

Boardwalk Empire is easily one of the best shows on television, but last nights episode was extremely slow. The episode, titled Ging Gang Goolie, also didn’t have Gyp, Capone, Van Alden, or Chalky anywhere. Which is disappointing because they are some of the better characters this season. “Ging Gang Goolie,” much like the second episode of the season, took it slow and gave us some interesting insight into some of the characters’ lives. As always this recap will be rife with spoilers so if you haven’t seen this episode yet then read no further.

In the beginning of the episode Nucky Thompson is back in New York to drop off protection money with Gaston Means. When he enters the room, the fish bowl that’s supposed to be empty has water and a goldfish inside. When he asks the maid who was the last person to check out, she says it was a French woman, which is why it still smells of perfume. Remus arrives shortly after, looking to make a money drop, too. They both stand around looking confused, and Nucky is concerned that there is trouble afoot.

Nucky eventually tracks down Attorney General Doughtry and demands answers as to why Means didn’t make their meeting. Nucky wants Remus taken down instead of him, but Doughtry won’t do that since it will corrupt the friendship he has with Judge Smith. Nucky offers Doughtry a stern warning that if he tries to take him down, everyone will go down.

Nucky then goes to the front desk of the hotel and buys a bottle of booze along with a pack of cancer sticks. Two alcohol enforcement agents approach him, grill him about his purchase and what he was doing there, punch him in the stomach, and place him under arrest for possession of alcohol.

Nucky spends the night in jail before appearing in front of a judge who charges a $5 fine to those who are found with alcohol before setting them free. Esther Randolph, the one in charge of trying Nucky for his election rigging case, is also the prosecutor here. She tries to indict Nucky for other charges, but his only charge here is for the alcohol. The judge lets him go with a $5 fine and he hilariously asks the cashier if he could break a $100.

Nucky heads back to his mistress Billie’s apartment, where she is a little mad that he didn’t make the premiere of her show. She starts to undress, but then the phone rings. It’s Gaston Means on the other end, the man Nucky came to New York to meet. The two set a plan to meet in Atlantic City and take down Doughtry.

Back in Atlantic city Margaret is awakened by her son, Teddy, saying, “There’s a fire.” Margaret looks out the window to see that the greenhouse is on fire.

Mrs. Predock arrives in her nightgown, and Owen arrives shortly after. Margaret admits that she has never set foot in the greenhouse, but she knows the items inside burn quickly. Owen looks at young Teddy and asks what he saw, and Teddy claims that a gypsy was around there earlier in the day. Satisfied with his answers Margaret sends young Teddy off to bed.

Margaret is afraid that Gyp Rosetti might be the one lurking around the house, since she and Nucky still have the dog he shoved into her hands. Owen reassures her that everything is fine, and it wasn’t Gyp.

A few days later, Mrs. Predock returns with Teddy by her side. She tells Margaret that she saw him in her garage with lighter fluid and matches. Teddy denies setting the greenhouse fire, but Margaret doesn’t believe him. She sends him to his room and gives him a half hearted spanking as punishment. The spankings don’t seem to bother to Teddy and she sends him off to him room shortly.

Owen comes back a days later to inform Margaret that a vagrant was found trying to keep warm by setting a fire. He tells Margaret that everything is back to normal, and she doesn’t have anything to worry about. Not fully believing the story Owen tells her, she calls Nucky, who is being “detained in Washington D.C.” Margaret informs Nucky that when he comes back home, they need to have a serious talk and “Things can’t go on like this, every which way.” Margaret tells the armed guard watching their house he can leave.

Later on that night, Margaret hears some noises outside and she starts to worry. She calls Katie looking for Owen, but he is not with her. Margaret loads up a shotgun and decides to go outside and investigate the noise, and as she walks toward the greenhouse, she sees a light inside. Much to her surprise she finds Owen in there, who says he came over because Nucky called and said he was worried. She asks if they really found the person who set the fire, and that she suspects it was Teddy who set the fire. Margaret confesses to Owen that she punished Teddy for thinking he set the fire. Owen calms her down and tells her that all her questions and concerns are best to talk about in the morning. Then out of nowhere Margaret grabs Owen and starts to passionately kiss him. She pulls him back into the greenhouse where they continue kissing while she begins to undress herself.

Back on the other side of town that Nucky rarely visits Gillian walks in on one of her brothel girls doing drugs with Lucky Luciano. She fires the girl on the spot and gets into a heated argument with Lucky on how to run the brothel. Lucky then reminds her that the house is technically still under Jimmy’s name, who she hasn’t declared dead yet. Gillian surprisingly agrees with Lucky on this point.

While out on a walk later that night, Gillian runs into a young man named Roger chatting on the boardwalk with some friends. Roger catches Gillian’s attention because he bears a striking resemblance to her deceased son, Jimmy. After offering Roger a cig and making small talk with him, the two return to his room and have hot passionate sex. Gillian tells Roger that he “took her back to the way she used to feel” and offers to give him a job before she gives him the nickname “James.” So in case you read that too fast, Gillian has sex with a guy who looks like her dead soon and gives the guy a new nickname, which is the REAL name of her dead son. Gross.

Elsewhere our favorite one eyed killer Richard Harrow enters a bar for veterans, where he sees two of the veterans engaging in some bare knuckled boxing. The two veterans boxing had both agreed to meet up again and fight the last time Richard was in the bar. After the two man get done beating the crap outta each other, Richard hangs out with the older vet, who lost the fight, while he waits for his daughter to pick him up. When the daughter comes to pick up her father she thanks Richard for staying and talking with her father, and once they leave Richard realizes that the veteran left his jacket and medal behind.

Richard tracked down where the veteran lived so he could return the jacket and medal. Richard and the daughter start making some small talk and she tells him that the medal belongs to her brother, who died before the war ended. Her father has been unable to get over the loss and he hangs out in veteran bars in hopes that he will see his son there. She asks Richard if he has any family, and he tells her he as a sister. She informs him that his sister is lucky to have him back.

All in all not a bad episode. I think it gave us some great insight into some of the characters and reminded us that Margaret is a cheating whore and Owen is a bit of a snake. But then again who’s perfect. See you guys next episode.

Things are starting to heat up on this season of Boardwalk Empire. As always, this recap is going to have lots and lots of spoilers so if you haven’t seen this episode yet, read no further. This episode of Boardwalk Empire had Nucky taking back control of his business as being away for so long for various reasons. First scene of importance is when Nucky is in his warehouse with his crew and tells them that the Tabor Heights route is completely off limits to his drivers, and tells them to use back roads instead to deliver the booze to Mr. Rothstein in NewYork.

Mickey Doyle questions this move and looks to Own for answers, which enrages Nucky because it’s his business. You see in his absence, Owen became the figurehead of Nucky’s organization because he is always the one carrying out and delivering his orders. Nucky then starts grilling Owen about Rowland Smith and whether he is dead or alive. When Owen replies that he is unsure of the boys status at the moment, Nucky decides to deal with the matter personally and off they go in search of the elusive Rowland Smith that was supposed to be killed a long time ago by Manny.

Elsewhere, Mrs. Thompson is preparing for the very first Women’s education class at the hospital while Al Capone is seen running things in Chicago with his crew. Al starts teasing one of his collectors that he smells and should start bathing and taking care of his personal hygiene a little better. But at home Al is shocked to find out that his son is the victim of bullying when a new kid comes to school and punches him in the cheek, causing him to stay home for the day.

Fast forward a bit and we see Mickey Doyle and Eli in Tabor Heights talking to the new sheriff of the town after the last one got burned alive by Gyp Rosetti. Mickey hands the officer a huge stack of bills to ensure safe passage through Tabor Heights and on to New-York, but Eli still doesn’t trust the new sheriff. This will lead to an epic show down later on and Mickey will wish that he listened to Eli Thompson and all his warnings.

The rest of the episode of Boardwalk Empire gets even more juicy, so I won’t spoil it all for you. Just make sure you check it out and let us know what you think down below.

Two episodes into the new season of Boardwalk Empire and things are starting to take shape and give us insight into the drama that’s set to unfold this season. As always, spoilers will be all over this recap so if you do not wanna know what happens then you should stop reading right now…

This episode of Boardwalk Empire, titled “Spaghetti Coffee”, laid the groundwork for the things that are to come in this season. Violence wise there wasn’t any killing going on, but we did get to see a bit of blood. We’ll get into that a little later. The episode started with Nucky in NYC with his mistress Billie, who he’s been secretly having an affair with for what seems like quite some time. Nucky is in NYC to pay his protection money to the senator’s middleman, but while there he gets more than he bargained for. While lounging away in Billie’s apartment, he finds another man’s razor in her bathroom meaning he isn’t the only guy she’s seeing if you catch my drift.

Back home in Atlantic City Nucky’s brother Eli gets out of jail and is shocked to see that his brother sent Mickey Doyle to pick him up, at one point asking Mickey “How the fuck are you still alive?” Eli is more pissed to find out that he is now working for Mickey as a simple employee and not even one of the high ranking members. Eli gets home to see his family and is shocked to see his oldest son is now all grown up and taking care of the family by getting a job at the lumber yard, and they don’t share the bond that they once had.

Gyp Rosetti makes his move against Nucky by taking over the one gas station Nucky’s team would have to fill up at to deliver their goods to NYC to Arnold. This is both a smart and dangerous move because Gyp has one of the biggest suppliers of booze by the balls, which is practically an act of war. Although from what we saw in the first episode, Gyp isn’t the type of person to take disrespect lightly, so he’s probably prepared for whatever outcome.

Elsewhere we get to see Chalky White in this episode and he has his own set of issues. His daughter’s boyfriend tells Chalky that he is 2 years away from becoming a doctor and he would like to marry his daughter. He does a quick health check on Mr. White that impresses him so much that he agrees to allow the boy to marry his daughter. Once home Chalky sits down to talk to his daughter about it and she expresses that she does not wanna marry the boy because he is too plain and boring, and she would rather have an exciting man like her gangster father. This leads to a startling conclusion that I just won’t spoil for you.

Overall this was a fairly decent episode which lagged at times. But I think it set things up beautifully for the remainder of the season and I cant wait to see how things end up playing out.
