Things are starting to heat up on this season of Boardwalk Empire. As always, this recap is going to have lots and lots of spoilers so if you haven’t seen this episode yet, read no further. This episode of Boardwalk Empire had Nucky taking back control of his business as being away for so long for various reasons. First scene of importance is when Nucky is in his warehouse with his crew and tells them that the Tabor Heights route is completely off limits to his drivers, and tells them to use back roads instead to deliver the booze to Mr. Rothstein in NewYork.
Mickey Doyle questions this move and looks to Own for answers, which enrages Nucky because it’s his business. You see in his absence, Owen became the figurehead of Nucky’s organization because he is always the one carrying out and delivering his orders. Nucky then starts grilling Owen about Rowland Smith and whether he is dead or alive. When Owen replies that he is unsure of the boys status at the moment, Nucky decides to deal with the matter personally and off they go in search of the elusive Rowland Smith that was supposed to be killed a long time ago by Manny.
Elsewhere, Mrs. Thompson is preparing for the very first Women’s education class at the hospital while Al Capone is seen running things in Chicago with his crew. Al starts teasing one of his collectors that he smells and should start bathing and taking care of his personal hygiene a little better. But at home Al is shocked to find out that his son is the victim of bullying when a new kid comes to school and punches him in the cheek, causing him to stay home for the day.
Fast forward a bit and we see Mickey Doyle and Eli in Tabor Heights talking to the new sheriff of the town after the last one got burned alive by Gyp Rosetti. Mickey hands the officer a huge stack of bills to ensure safe passage through Tabor Heights and on to New-York, but Eli still doesn’t trust the new sheriff. This will lead to an epic show down later on and Mickey will wish that he listened to Eli Thompson and all his warnings.
