Last year Angelina Jolie received praise from critics for her directorial debut “In the Land of Milk and Honey” and now she ready to take the director’s chair again for another ambitious project.
Jolie is slated to direct the film adaptation of Laura Hillenbrand’s book “Unbroken.” The film will tell the true story of Olympic athlete turned WWII pilot, Louis Zamperini who survived for two months at sea after his plane was shot down only to be captured by the Japanese and sent to a prisoner of war camp. Jolie issued a statement announcing the project saying: “I read Laura Hillenbrand’s brilliant book, and I was so moved by Louie Zamperini’s heroic story, I immediately began to fight for the opportunity to make this film. Louie is a true hero of immense humanity, faith and courage. I am deeply honored to have the chance to tell his inspiring story.”
