Toni Braxton’s 12-year marriage is officially over. The singer has confirmed that her divorce is final from musician Keri Lewis.
On Wednesday, a rep for Braxton stated that the split between the pair was “amicable”. They also ensured that the two musicians “will both be actively involved in raising their two sons, 11 year-old Denim and 10-year old Denzel.”
Lewis is a former member of the R&B band, Mint Condition. The two got married in 1998 and have been separated since 2009. In an October special of “Behind the Music”, Braxton stated that her split with Lewis was difficult. “I had to figure out a plan for my life that had nothing to do with him,” she said. “I was angry with everybody. I couldn’t believe this was happening to me. I felt that I was a person dealing with a lot of struggles and here comes another one.” For now, Braxton is moving on with her life and creating new music with another R&B hitman, Babyface Edmonds. Braxton and Edmonds plan to release a joint album this fall via Motown Records of the appropriate name Love, Marriage, Divorce.
The “Unbreak My Heart” Singer has won six Grammy Awards and has her hand in songwriting, producing, acting and philanthropy work. She also stars on the WEtv hit reality series, “The Braxton Values” with her sisters, Trina, Traci, Tamar, and Towanda.
