Rihanna may be number one on the charts, but has had a difficult time appearing at shows. The Baja singer left fans waiting for hours in Boston on Monday night for a show she had already rescheduled due to illness.
Rihanna arrived on stage at 10:30 pm, when the doors had been opened since 7:30. The show was supposed to start at 9 pm. The May 6 show at the TD Garden in Boston had reports of fights as the crowd grew restless. Ri’s opener, A$AP Rocky was a no-show due to illness as well.
When she finally appeared on stage, the singer was welcomed with a roar of boos. “The crowd responded the best they could: with a round of boos,” said Boston.com “Even when the house lights went down, the cheers and jeers rose up in unison That’s not how you want to begin your rescheduled concert.”
One British tabloid has reported that Rihanna was late because she wanted to watch the end of the Bulls and Heat game. The singer has yet to make a comment on her lateness, but posted a photo on her Instagram with the caption, “I will never forget this night!!! I truly have deeper love for you now!!! Thank you for making it extra special!!!”
Rihanna’s Diamond’s World Tour has been a bumpy journey since it kicked off in March. The singer has cancelled numerous shows due to sickness. She has postponed stops in Texas and Boston alike. She had a similar pattern with the Loud tour.
While Rihanna may not be the most reliable performer, she continues to dominate on the charts. You win some, you lose some.
