The Miss America beauty pageant is heading back to Atlantic City after being hosted in Las Vegas for the past six years. New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno broke the news about a new three-year deal struck with pageant officials on Thursday. She did not, however, disclose terms of the new deal.
Guadagno says the pageant will be used to show that the Jersey Shore is ready for business after being devastated by Superstorm Sandy. The Miss America Pageant was a staple of Atlantic City for years until 2006, when it was moved to Las Vegas so a younger and more hip audience could see the show.
The Jersey Shore has been struggling since Sandy came and destroyed a majority of the area. Atlantic City casinos have had a hard time recovering from the storm, as well as fighting off competition from gambling halls in neighboring states.
