Britney Spears To Leave “The X Factor”?

While nothing is set in stone, the internet has gone abuzz with reports that Britney Spears will be leaving as a judge of the popular show “The X Factor”. After a lackluster turn on the show, which Spears failed to raise ratings for Simon’s Cowell’s reality singing competition, the singer is not expected to return to the show for it’s third season.

After only one season, numerous reports have claimed that Ms. Spears will not be returning for a second season of “The X Factor” after it was thought that Simon Cowell was going to fire her. The singer was rumored to be earning an estimated $15 million as a judge. The singer has also hinted  that she will be releasing her eight studio album later this year.

The signing of Spears was a gamble for Cowell, considering that the press-shy singer has been in the shadows since her string of personal problems that began in 2007. The news came just days after Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly told reporters that he was pleased with the singer’s job on the show. “I thought it went very, very well,” he said on Tuesday. “I think Britney did a very good job.”

If Spears leaves, she will be a part of what has been a constantly rotating panel of “Factor” that saw the booting of Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul after one season. L.A Reid has already confirmed that he will not be returning to judge for the third season. Nothing has yet to been said about the return of host Demi Lovato who has been known to have issues with Cowell.
