During New York’s Comic Con convention your bound to see almost anything. The event is catered to comic book fans who dress up as their favorite characters and interact with people with similar interests. So it’s quite difficult to stand out when everyone around you is dressed in some crazy getup, but rock band Coheed and Cambria managed to do just that as part of Yahoo!’s Crash Concert series.

Coheed and Cambria are no strangers to the comic book scene, lead singer Claudio Sanchez has his own comic-book series called The Amory Wars. Prepping for the impromptu concert was not easy though, Coheed and Cambria had no amps, no stage, no microphones, and a large and very loud moving crowd to overcome. That didn’t deter the band from going on and performing in the middle of the convention floor for all the fans to see.

Coheed and Cambria performed their hit single “The Afterman,” which caused fans to gather around and listen to the performance, with some fans choosing to sing along. Coheed and Cambria will be releasing The Afterman: Descension, which is the second half of a double-album set, in February 2013. The first half, The Afterman: Ascension, hit stores in October.
