George Clooney wanted to play father in upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic

A new biopic is in the works to celebrate the life of the late singer Amy Winehouse and her father Mitch would love to see George Clooney play his part in the film. The former cab driver is encouraging any studio interested in picking up the project to pick a “handsome” actor for the role.

“I dare say….who’s going to play me, George Clooney? I mean they’ve got to get someone good and handsome. But they’ll probably end up with Ray Winstone or someone like that knowing my luck.”

At one point it had been rumored that Lady Gaga would play the role of Amy but Mitch said that, despite his like for the pop star, she didn’t seem write for the role telling reporters: “I mean Lady Gaga, if she wants to come and audition for it…I’ve met her parents a number of times, she’s a lovely girl…She’s the same as Amy – she’s a nice kid, very nice young lady. She still can’t play Amy though.”
