Focus Features and Universal Pictures made the much anticipated announcement today of their selection for screenwriter for the upcoming movie adaptation of the incredibly popular book Fifty Shades of Grey. Producers Michael DeLuca and Dana Brunettie have picked ‘Terra Nova’ writer Kelly Marcel to undertake the job of transcribing E L James erotic work into a cinematic block buster. DeLuca issued a statement today saying: “ Kelly’s work demonstrates her flawless structural technique and passionate commitment to emotion, humor and depth of character which is particularly visible in the celebrated screenplay for the upcoming ‘saving Mr. Banks. We were all taken with the depth and passion of Kelly’s engagement with the character and world E L James has created and we knew she was the right person to augment our ‘Fifty Shades’ family.” Next up for the project is the decision over who will direct the film and of course who will play Christian and Ana, and already fans of the book series are very opinionated about who they want to see in the big screen adaptation.
