Tony Scott is known for directing heart-pounding hits such as Top Gun (1986), Days of Thunder (1990) and Unstoppable (2010). His life came to a shocking and unexpected end Sunday afternoon when the acclaimed director and producer jumped from the Los Angeles County’s Vincent Thomas Bridge into the Los Angeles Harbor. Tony Scott is the younger brother of director Ridley Scott. According to police a suicide note was found in Scotts black Prius that also included contact information. His press representative, Simon Halls, had this to say on Monday morning. “I can confirm that Tony Scott has passed away. The family asks that their privacy is respected at this time.” Reaction from other hollywood heavyweights on twitter started as soon as the news broke. Director Ron Howard tweeted: “No more Tony Scott movies. Tragic day.” Producer, director and actor Jon Favreau tweeted: “Such sad news about Tony Scott. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.” Samuel L. Jackson wrote: “Taking a moment to reflect on Tony Scott’s life and work! My sympathies to his family. Feeling the loss.”
