It was reported that all Katie Holmes wanted when she walked away from her marriage to mega actor Tom Cruise, was to make sure that her daughter would be taken care of no matter what happened. All she wanted was a divorce and for him to comfortable take care of their daughter Suri. This is exactly what she got and it reportedly very happy with the outcome. People close to the situation are reporting that Katie did not receive a lump sum payment in the couple’s divorce settlement. This agreement comes from a prenup that Holmes signed locking her out of the Cruise fortune. She also asked for nothing in spousal support. Tom has agreed to pay Katie $400,000 a year in child support, or $33,333.33, until Suri turns 18, coming in a shade under $5 million total. He’ll also cover her medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other costs.

Many were expecting an ugly, long drawn out battle between estranged couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Hollywood’s mega couple announced their pending divorce only last week and it was expected that each side would put up a big fight for their daughter Suri, age 6. Much to everyone’s surprise both camps announced this morning that a settlement has been reached privately and quietly. What the terms of this agreement are are currently unknown but both sides have issued statements saying that they are happy with the quick and peaceful resolution. Katie and Tom also issued a joint statement today expressing their wishes to keep their personal matters private and reiterating their mutual commitment to the best interests of their daughter and their mutual respect for one another as parents.
