Super Bowl Sunday was a great time not only because of the big game and Beyonce’s halftime show, but for the amazing film trailers as well, like “Star Trek Into Darkness.” Paramount debuted a new trailer for the “Star Trek Into Darkness” film, and the studio announced that J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek” sequel will arrive in theaters sooner than initially announced.

There’s “Star Trek Into Darkness” app that was made for this blockbuster film, a “first-of-its kind movie app” according to Paramount. Fans are able to “unlock movie tickets for show times on Wednesday, May 15 at 8:00 p.m. -– two days ahead of the film’s scheduled release on Friday, May 17.”

This is good news is for many “Star Trek” fans, many of whom are still pissed off at the fact that Abrams was recently hired to direct “Star Wars: Episode VII.”

Paramount released an announcement trailer for the highly anticipated “Star Trek Into Darkness” film just days after premiering the official poster.

Similar to the poster, the small trailer focuses on Benedict Cumberbatch, who may or may not be playing either Gary Mitchell or Khan. “You think your world is safe? It is an illusion,” says Cumberbatch in the announcement as scenes of carnage unfold. “A comforting lie told to protect you. Enjoy these final moments of peace, for I have returned to have my vengeance.”

The full trailer for the “Star Trek Into Darkness” is out December 17th.

“Star Trek Into Darkness” was directed by J.J. Abrams. The sequel to the series puts Kirk and company in a dire situation.  The Enterprise must protect the world from the destruction, led by Captain Kirk.

The film stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, and John Cho. It is set to release in theaters on May 17, 2013.
