One of the best-selling artists of the 1950’s, singer Patti Page passed away yesterday at the age of 85. Page, born Clara Ann Fowler, began her music career in 1948, beating Dorris Day in the charts with her own version of the song “Confess.”

Over the next two decades Page went on to release 15 platinum-selling singles including: “With My Eyes Wide Open, I’m Dreaming,” “Tennessee Waltz,” “Old Cape Cod’ and “Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte.” Despite the rock and roll movement of the 1960’s Page managed to perform well on the charts and experienced renewed popularity in 2000 with the release of “Brand New Tennessee Waltz” a compilation of her greatest hits featuring duets with country stars like Trisha Yearwood and Emmylou Harris. Throughout her career Patti Page only won one Grammy but is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award later this year.

A spokesman for authorities told the press that “A Pontypridd man has been charged with sexual offenses against children and is due to appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court today. The 35-year-old has been charged with conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under the age of 13 and possession/distribution of indecent images of children. In order to assist their investigation, South Wales Police has named the man as Ian Watkins, a member of the rock group Lostprophets.”
Watkin’s camp has remained silent since the story broke, refusing to comment on the allegations. Lostprophets was formed back in 1997 and the band has sold over $3.5 million records over the course of their 15 year career.

Lindsay Morgan Lohan, born Lindsay Dee Lohan on July 2, 1986, is an American actress, singer, fashion designer, and model. Lindsay Lohan first began her entertainment career as a child fashion model when she was three. Lindsay Lohan played a part on the TV soap opera Another World for a year at the tender age of 10 years old. Lindsay Lohan made her big screen debut at age 11 in Disney’s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap, a critical and commercial hit. She made two Disney TV movies, Life-Size in 2000 and Get a Clue in 2002. Lindsay Lohan’s next major motion picture was Disney’s Freaky Friday remake in 2003 which was a success at the box office and helped cement her role as one of the leading faces of young Hollywood. When Lindsay’s next movie Mean Girls was released in 2004, another critical and commercial success, she became a household name and a frequent target of paparazzi and tabloids. The two films earned her several MTV Movie Awards and Teen Choice Awards.

In 2004, Lindsay Lohan tried her hand at singing and released her debut album , Speak, which went platinum. She followed it up with A Little More Personal (Raw) in 2005 which was certified gold. The same year she starred in the Disney movie Herbie: Fully Loaded, another box office hit. In 2006 she received positive comments on her work in independent films including Robert Altman’s A Prairie Home Companion and Emilio Estevez’s Bobby. In 2007 Lindsay Lohan was caught driving under the influence and ended up being put on probation, and coupled together with three different visits to rehabilitation facilities caused the loss of several movie deals.

In 2008 and 2009, Lindsay Lohan worked as a fashion model and released her first clothing line 6126 Collection. Lindsay Lohan got her life back on track and she appeared as a recurring guest star in the TV series Ugly Betty in 2008, and starred in the TV film Labor Pains in 2009. She had a part in Robert Rodriguez’s 2010 feature film Machete. She spent much of 2010 and 2011 entangled in legal issues stemming from probation violations and a necklace theft. In 2012, her supervised probation was lifted and she did further TV work, including starring as Elizabeth Taylor in the TV-movie biography Liz & Dick.
